If you've not heard of Geek Fuel before you are in for a treat!! I discovered Geek Fuel at the Salt Lake Comic Con in Salt Lake City Utah, September of 2015 just as the Con was coming to a close. Most of the booths had been taken down, but a stack of boxes labeled GeekFuel towering behind a booth, and a small stack of beautifully geeky mugs covered in holographic images of Pac-man chomping down on a pac-pellet, caught my eye and drew me in.

As I approached the booth I was greeted by an incredibly kind gentlemen by the name of Paul who, although the Con was technically closed, he took the time to speak with me and answer my questions of intrigue. My curiosity had been peeked of course not only by the pac-mug, but by the stacks of what looked suspiciously like blind boxes behind the table...and you know me - I'm an absolute sucker for blind boxes!!

What I learnt next took my excitement to the next level when I was informed that not only were those satisfyingly stacked boxes indeed blind boxes - but they were part of a monthly subscription box service! Wait, another box of awesome geekiness that is delivered directly to my doorstep each month?!?!

I was more than interested at this point! Geek Fuel it turns out is exactly that - another among a growing trend of subscription box services which are delivered monthly straight to the geek in your life (which may or may not be yourself). But this is not to down-play the awesomeness of this new find!

With all the different subscription box services out there, you may be wondering why I'm so excited to review and talk about this one in particular. What sets Geek Fuel apart from the other nerdy or geeky monthly subscription box services, is that Geek Fuel offers a downloadable game in EACH and EVERY one of their monthly boxes! And since being a gamer and a nerd are quite often parked in the same camp together - I find this to be a brilliant and well appreciated idea!

Monthly subscription boxes in general, now have a huge following and range in items from games to gadgets, cute to creative, pooches to practical - you name it and there's a fairly good chance that there's a Box for that! ;D

Lootcrate was one of the first monthly subscription box services that offered unique nerdy items. Since getting started, many others competitors have surfaced such as Nerd Block, 1up Box, Power-up Box, Geek fuel and so forth. These boxes tend to run in the $14-30 dollar a month range.

Gaining its legs as a Kickstarter project, Geek Fuel was founded in 2014, with its very first debut box being shipped out in December of that year. It has been growing in popularity and success since that time, and and now ships to the U.S., Canada and the UK.

Every standard Geek Fuel box will come with a downloadable computer game, a magazine which lists and explains the contents of the box as well as some other goodies, and an EXCLUSIVE to Geek Fuel T-Shirt - which means it cannot be purchased anywhere else, and is definitely a huge selling point! Along with those items, you will also receive a few other geeky goodies such as a poster, book, pin, vinyl figure, etc. Below are a few pictures of previous boxes which show exactly what they contained, and will give you an idea of what may be included in future boxes.

Geek Fuel has the promise that every box will contain $50+ in value! The monthly box will cost you $23.90 a month with shipping and handling if you decide to subscribe on a month-to-month basis. For a better deal they also offer the option of signing up for 3, 6 or 12 month subscription plans - each offering a slightly better price point.

An important thing to keep in mind is that if you go with one of the larger plans offered by Geek Fuel (and all other subscription box services as far as I'm aware) your credit card or other means of payment will be billed automatically on a recurring basis. If you do not want your card charged you will need to hold, stop, cancel or skip the service before your renewal date hits.

Like all monthly subscription box services, Geek Fuel mails a box of around 5 to 7 random, nerdy items, the contents of which are kept secret, so you'll always be surprised and you won't know what neat geeky items you're going to get until you open it! It's a ton of fun! In my opinion it feels just like Christmas morning as a kid looking at the surprise and anticipation of an unwrapped gift that sits before you! If you haven't given a subscription box service a try yet - I strongly encourage you to do so!! And if, like me, you also love geekiness and games - then this is definitely the box for you!!
