This just in - the series 3 My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Hot Topic Exclusive Funko Mystery Minis are Finally Here!!!! (Check out the video description for giveaway details)

Featured above is the glow-in-the-dark version of Princess Celestia exclusive to Hot Topic, which means this beauty cannot be purchased anywhere but Hot Topic and from private sellers on sites such as eBay.

Princess Celestia is a part of the just barely released Series 3 My Little Pony Mystery Minis. She can also be found in the regular or "standard" set available in many popular retail stores - but in "show accurate" or color bodied variant (shown below).

Funko has many partnerships with different retail stores who stock special "exclusive" versions of their different figures/collectables. In our review videos we focus on the My Little Pony Mystery Minis variant exclusives sold by Hot Topic. The Hot Topic Exclusive Ponies in Series 3 are: show accurate or color Princess Cadence, Glow in the dark Princess Celestia, silhouette or black body Maud Pie, color Cheese Sandwhich and color Spike.

A captivating note is that prior to series 3 ALL Hot Topic exclusive variants were "show accurate" or color versions of the same ponies released. Series 3, however, seemingly breaks this tradition but mixing in both black bodied (silhouette) ponies and ponies in their respective colors as seen in the show.

But this is where things get interesting! It would appear that there is now a mystery behind some of these mystery minis! The Shining Armor and Princess Luna vinyl figures, who in the Hot Topic set, both came in the traditional black body style - despite the pictures released by Funko themselves of what I and everyone else assumed to be the standard line of these ponies in color versions!

Many are speculating that these silhouette versions are simply also exclusive to Hot Topic, however, we've not yet seen the release of an exclusive to Hot Topic pony come out without it being clearly marked on the package that the figure is specifically exclusive to Hot Topic!

So where do these silhouette versions of Luna and Shining Armor come from?? Are they actually exclusive to Hot Topic? Are the color pictures of these figures released by Funko a mistake? Will the color versions of Luna and Shining Armor be exclusive to another store entirely - and if so why were they featured in the official pictures where other exclusives have never made the cut?? I suspect that we will find out imminently as more and more stores receive and release this new line of MLP mystery minis series 3 - but the riddle will thrill me until that time!

Each series of Mystery Minis comes in a "standard" set which is not sold by Hot Topic and can be found in major retail stores. These do not include the Hot Topic exclusives, but DO include a few ponies that were taken out to make room for the exclusive variants sold by Hot Topic. This is the case for almost all Mystery Minis lines Funko has produced that come with exclusive variants. For example, the Hot Topic line for the My Little Pony Mystery Minis Series 3 excluded the silhouette Princess Cadence, show accurate Maud Pie, silhouette Spike, show accurate Princess Celesia, silhouette Cheese Sandwich (and possibly the color versions of Princess Luna and Shining Armor).

And because I'm obsessed with these adorable ponies - It's a sure bet that we will be collecting the standard set of these fantastic ponies as soon as we can find them!

The MLP Mystery Minis Hot Topic exclusives for series 2 were: Fluttershy, Spitfire, Lyra Heartstrings & a glitter version of Discord.

The MLP Mystery Minis Hot Topic exclusives for series 1 were: Rainbow Dash, Pinky Pie, Derpy, Dr. Hooves, & DJ Pon3.

All Funko Mystery Minis come in blind boxes, which means you won't know which figure you've purchased until you open it! Hence the name: Mystery Minis. Blind box purchases have a hugely popular following! Many blind box/bling bag series will come with what is commonly called "chase" items. These items have a much lower chance rate of finding. For example, in the Hot Topic series two line of the My Little Pony Mystery Minis, the Hot Topic exclusive variants have a 1 in 72 chance of finding those figures, as opposed to 2 in every 18 figures such as the Applejack or Rarity ponies.

We open and review many of these Mystery Minis figures from many different sets/lines, as well as many other fun collectables, on our channel. Most of the items we review are given away to happy new homes all over the world!
